Motion‐insensitive susceptibility weighted imaging

چکیده

Purpose To enable SWI that is robust to severe head movement. Methods Prospective motion correction using a markerless optical tracker was applied all pulse sequences. Three-dimensional gradient-echo and 3D EPI were used as reference sequences, but expected be sensitive motion-induced B0 changes, the long TE required for allows phase discrepancies accumulate between shots. Therefore, 2D interleaved snapshot investigated motion-robust compared with conventional EPI. Repeated signal averages retrospectively corrected motion. The sequences evaluated at 3 T through controlled experiments involving two cooperative volunteers of tumor patient. Results performed continuous in range 5–8° rotations. image quality poor unless rotational axis parallel B0. Interleaved had minimal intraslice due its small temporal footprint. Phase inconsistency well tolerated high-pass filter effect processing. prospective retrospective demonstrated similar quality, regardless whether present. Lesion depiction equal matching resolution. Conclusion Susceptibility-based imaging can severely corrupted by movement despite accurate correction. superior alternative patients who are prone move offers which insensitive when combined

Susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI).

Susceptibility differences between tissues can be utilized as a new type of contrast in MRI that is different from spin density, T1-, or T2-weighted imaging. Signals from substances with different magnetic susceptibilities compared to their neighboring tissue will become out of phase with these tissues at sufficiently long echo times (TEs). Thus, phase imaging offers a means of enhancing contra...

Susceptibility-weighted imaging in Todd paralysis.

A 10-year-old boy presented with left hemiplegia and facial droop after prolonged seizure activity overnight. MRI showed hypoperfusion involving the right cerebral hemisphere. Susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) demonstrated prominence of ipsilateral draining veins, indicating increased deoxyhemoglobin content within the hypoperfused territory (figure). There was no acute infarct. Weakness im...

Characterizing the mesencephalon using susceptibility-weighted imaging.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The mesencephalon is involved in a number of human neurodegenerative disorders and has been typically imaged with T1-, T2- and T2*-weighted methods. Our aim was to collect high-contrast susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) data to differentiate among and within the basic mesencephalic structures: namely, the red nucleus, substantia nigra, and crus cerebri. MATERIALS AN...

Susceptibility-Weighted Imaging in Heat Stroke

OBJECTIVE To assess the role of susceptibility-weighted imaging in the detection of intracranial hemorrhage after heat stroke and in the prognosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study group consisted of eight patients after heat stroke, with a score of 3 to 9 in Glasgow Coma Scale. The MR studies were performed with a 1.5 T scanner. Susceptibility-weighted imaging data were collected within 2-5 d...
